RM Sotheby's London auction results.

    250 GT/L, S/N 5913 GT (1964). Grigio Argento with crema interior. Completed in Grigio Argento with nero interior on 13 July 1964, and delivered to Luigi Chinetti Motors. Its subsequent history is unknown, but in June 1987 was offered for sale in the Los Angeles Times by MDR Enterprises of Marina Del Rey, California, finished in red with black interior. Its next known owner in 1999 was Mel Farrar, in Sheffield, England. It is believed the car was restored in England for Mr. Farrar in the late 1990s. Widely shown by him at several national meetings and concours events through the 2000s. He offered it for sale in 2013. Subsequently it was purchased around 2016 by an owner in London. In 2019 the car was issued Classiche certification with Red Book. Recently refinished in original color of Grigio Argento, retaining the tan interior fitted in its previous restoration. Mechanical sorting, including clutch and flywheel in 2019 and assorted general mechanical repairs in 2023. Full rebuild of matching-numbers engine completed in the autumn of 2024. Lot 356. Sold for $1.4 million.

 


    275 GTB, S/N 6705 (1965). Red with black leather interior. Delivered to Scaglietti on 27 October 1964 to be completed with short-nose steel bodywork painted in Rosso Cina with nero leather interior, power windows and three Weber carburetors. Sold in March 1965 by Chinetti Motors to first owner, Mr. Carl Iverson. He retained the car until 1974, when it was sold to San Francisco, California. In 1982, it was acquired by Mr. Dorris based in Fort Worth. Sold again in 1986 to Mr. Anderson of Lewisville, Texas, for the next seven years, after which the car was exported to the Netherlands. Certified in March 2015 by Classiche, noting the replacement gearbox was of the correct type. Later in July, it was acquired by a new owner in the United Kingdom. Shortly after arrival, the car was sent to Ferrari specialist Bob Houghton. Between January and July 2016, the engine was rebuilt. Purchased by the consigning owner in April 2022. Accompanied by Red Book, owner’s guides, tool roll, history file, red rear indicator lenses, plus report by Massini. Lot 342. Sold for $2.2 million.

 


    330 GTC, S/N 8873 (1966). Pale blue with black leather interior. Originally finished in silver gray with    Nero Franzi leather. Delivered in August 1966 and imported to Switzerland. Subsequently repainted red, it remained in the country before entering ownership of Mr Gino Chiesa of Bubendorf in 1983. He kept the GTC for some 32 years. Towards the end of his custodianship in August 2011, Garage Salvadori Ivo cleaned the engine, chassis, and underbody, exhaust was replaced and brake system refreshed. The following March, the seats were retrimmed. Sold in June 2015 to Mr. Josef Panis. He oversaw a repaint to the factory silver gray. Under subsequent owner Mr. Bernberg, it was awarded Classiche certification in July 2019. The car was then acquired in the early 2020s by its consigning keeper, who had the 330 repainted in its current blue hue. Accompanied by history file, Red Book, and report by Marcel Massini. Lot 329. Sold for $472,000.

 


    F40, VIN ZFFGJ34B000083052 (1989).  Rosso Corsa with Stoffa Vigogna interior. Configured in European market, “non-cat, non-adjust” specification. The chassis departed Maranello on 25 October 1989, destined for Motor S.p.A. The following month, it was acquired by first owners Italleasing S.p.A of Rapallo, near Genoa. By the early 1990s, it had passed into French hands. It departed continental European shores in 1997, arriving in the UK late that year. UK registration was granted on 24 February 1998, with the car being acquired by Allen Grove in June 1998. Mr Grove sold the car in 2000 to a Mr. Johnson of Biddenham, Bedfordshire. Throughout Mr. Johnson’s ownership, it was maintained by DK Engineering, with Ferrari’s recommended 5,000-kilometre service schedule. In June 2001, it benefitted from new fuel cells and cambelts. Routine services were carried out in 2004, 2006, and 2007, at 13,168, 14,701, and 16,100 kilometres respectively. In August 2009, it joined the collection of the current consignor. Displaying 18,350 km at point of purchase. In March 2012 a fitment of new fuel cells and a new original stock silencer box in 2016. The fuel cells were renewed again in conjunction with a major service, including cam belts, air filters, spark plugs, and battery, in May 2024. Accompanying Red Book awarded in December 2016. Recorded odometer reading of 20,921 km. Lot 324. Sold for $2.5 million.
