Historian Marc Rabineau has passed. His knowledge of Ferrari was often seen in the various auction catalogs. If the Ferrari had spent time in France chances are Marc Rabineau knew the history. His contributions to the FML will be missed.
I am sad to report that historian Marc Rabineau has passed away. His son informed me this week Rabineau lost his fight with cancer.
Rabineau contributed to the Ferrari Market Letter with histories for our database and articles detailing history on several models.
He often collaborated with Marcel Massini providing detailed ownership for many of the Ferraris sold in France.
His records included much in the way of service history and sales from French sources.
Many of the auction houses highlighted Rabineau’s history and provenance in their catalogs.
That same information was often freely shared with the FML as we traded information on the various Ferraris he was researching.
I will miss the conversations and email we shared. It was clear he loved Ferrari and the quest to gain more details regarding owners and history of the cars he was researching.
I am sure he is still seeking answers to Ferrari history from Enzo Ferrari, Gerald Roush and others like Ed Niles and Charles Betz.
Knowing Marc Sonnery, he and Marc Rabineau are having a spirited discussion on the various histories of many special Ferraris. Rest in peace my friends.
