RM Sotheby's Guilkas collection is offered at a no reserve auction. Interesting results for an exceptional group of Ferraris.

    250 (EUROPA) GT PF BERLINETTA COMPETIZIONE, S/N 0385 GT (1955). Red with black interior. Estimate €7 million to €9 million. This car can be distinguished by several unique features, including its lack of a boot lid, independent front suspension with coil springs, and competition-oriented sliding side windows. The early 250 GT Berlinettas signaled the progression of a blossoming partnership between Ferrari and Pinin Farina. Originally in Argento livery, the car was displayed at the 1955 Turin Motor Show. The first owner was Mr. Luigi Bertett, then President of the Automobile Club of Milan. It had two more owners in Italy before being shipped in January 1964 to Athens, Greece. The car was involved in a road accident in 1965. In 1975, after sitting in storage for several years, Stephen Barney managed to rescue the car out of Greece. Barney brought the car back to Italy for a complete restoration. Barney matriculated back to the U.S. Sold to Wisconsin and then to Germany. Moved to Japan in the late 1980s, before coming to the UK in the early 1990s. In 1995, a complete engine rebuild is documented in the history file. Sold to Mr. Guikas over a decade ago. Classiche Red Book certified. Lot 152. Sold for €6.2 million.

 

 

    250 GT PF CABRIOLET SERIES I, S/N 0849 GT (1958). Black with turquoise interior. Estimate €5.5 million to €7 million. The cabriolet left the factory in May 1958, originally finished in Bianco with Turchese Connolly leather interior. Sold to its first owner in Lodi, near Milan. In September 1960, the car found its second owner, residing in Milan, while its third and fourth owners were in France. In 1964, the drum brakes were replaced with disc upgrades. In 1971, the original engine suffered failure. It was replaced with S/N 0973 GT. It was repainted red and trimmed with black interior. During the 1980s and 1990s, the car passed between owners in England, France, Belgium and the USA. Added to the Guikas Collection in September 2007, at which point it was equipped with engine 0949 GT. However, 0849 GT was once again stablemates in the Guikas collection with ‘Tour de France’ chassis 0973 GT, which still had the original engine from 0849 GT installed. In 2017, the car underwent restoration and was reunited with its matching-numbers engine. It was repainted in black and retrimmed to the original Turchese. It was confirmed this example once had more subtle vents installed. Lot 123. Sold for €4.4 million.

 

 

    250 GTE 2+2 SERIES I, S/N 2769 GT (1961). Ivory with beige interior. Estimate €250,000 to €300,000. Purchased by French politician Albin Chalandon on 18 October 1961. Delivered via Franco-Britannic Autos Ltd., originally finished in Grigio Fumo, with beige leather interior and carpets. Two French owners would follow. Next advertised for sale on 14 October 1982, the fourth owner had the car refinished in its present ivory in 1986. After receiving significant mechanical work in 1997, it joined the Guikas Collection in August 1999. Reportedly 3,000 km since the completion of this mechanical work. 68,000 km. Recent Classiche inspection confirmed a full numbers matching drivetrain. Lot 164. Sold for €342,500.

 

 

    275 GTB, S/N 7765 (1965). Blue Sera with Beige Scuro interior. Estimate €2.4 million to €2.8 million. Completed in July 1965 and first sold in France in September. Ordered initially with three carburetors, the car was bought new by Count Fréderic Chandon de Brialles, heir to the Moët & Chandon producer of champagne. One year later trading it to Claude Bouscary. Converted to a six-carburetor set-up, it charged its way to podium places in many races across France. 1st in the GT class and 2nd overall at the Course de Vitesse at Albi in March 1967, 1st at the Col Bayard hill climb in April 1967, 1st at the Saint Antonin hill climb in May 1967, Bouscary won the French GT Championship in 1967. In 1973, the car was sold and repainted in burgundy red. The car was restored between 1989 to 1991, then later campaigned in historic racing events in the 1990s and 2000s. One owner commissioned Roelofs Engineering to build a fully race-prepared engine using a Ferrari Classiche block and six-carburetor setup, as well as a competition gearbox. The original engine, with three-carburetor setup, and gearbox were carefully removed and rebuilt, and preserved on the side. Classiche certified. Lot 144. Sold for €2.14 million.

 

 

    365 GTB/4, S/N 12525 (1969). Argento with nero leather. Estimate €600,000 to €700,000. Completed on 14 May 1969. First registered in the Italian city of Imperia. Sold in 1972 to Switzerland. Sold again after three years to its third owner in Milan. Around 1977, the car was exported to the U.S. In December of 1982 the car was sold and the owner proceeded to carefully preserve the car in storage for the next 30 years. Purchased by Mr. Guikas in 2016 and returned to Europe. Inspected by Classiche in 2021, confirmed original matching numbers engine and gearbox. Cromodora wheels and manuals in leather wallet. 50,904 km. Lot 153. Sold for €606,875.

 

 

    365 GTC/4, S/N 14461 (1971). Azzurro Gladiateur with black interior. Estimate €180,000 to €220,000. Completed in October of 1971. Sold new in Milan, the car remained in Italy for a very short period of time. Exported to California in 1972. Acquired by a resident of Illinois. Repainted red, it eventually made its way back to California. In 2006, the car had been advertised as having received a substantial mechanical service, including replacement of the timing chains, water pump, a new clutch and flywheel, and a rebuild of the ignition, braking system, and carburetors. In mid-2019 it was acquired by Mr. Guikas and shipped to France. It was returned to its original color of Azzurro Gladiateur and black interior and has been inspected by Classiche in preparation for certification. Accompanied with user’s manual and spare parts catalog. 72,844 km. Lot 131. Sold for €212,750.

 

 

    512 BB, S/N 27773 (1979). Black with black leather. Estimate €250,000 to €300,000. Sold new via official Ferrari deal Charles Pozzi SA in Paris in May 1979. The following year the car was sold to its second owner. In 2006 the car moved to German ownership until it was acquired by Mr. Guikas in May 2018. Still finished in its original interior. Recently Classiche certified with Red Book. 22,623 km. Lot 165. Sold for €252,500.

 

 

    TESTAROSSA, VIN ZFFTA17B000063909 (1986). Argento with Rosso leather. Estimate €110,000 to €150,000. Delivered new to Italy. Identified as an early example by its single mirror and single-lug wheels. Previously repainted yellow for a time, it has since been returned to its original shade of Argento. Acquired by Mr. Guikas in 2015. Well maintained ever since. Displaying 52,526 km. Accompanied with tool roll and jack, owner’s manual pouch and books and Classiche Red Book. 52,526 km. Sold for €286,250.

 

 

    456M GT, VIN ZFFWP44B000126917 (2001). Grigio Alloy with Blu Scuro Connolly leather. Estimate €100,000 to €125,000. One of 688 456M GTs with a six-speed manual gearbox. Sold new by Forza in Turin, it remained in Italy until 2018, when it was acquired by Mr. Guikas and shipped to France. Owner’s manuals and service book. Maintained at key intervals, last service in November of 2017 at 25,760 km. Presently 27,500 km. Offered with period Nokia telephone and service manual with historic stamps. Lot 110. Sold for €92,000.

 

 

    206 GT, S/N 00186 (1968). Rosso Dino with black interior. Estimate €475,000 to €550,000. First registered on 22 October 1968 and delivered to MG Crepaldi Automobili SaS of Milan, Italy. Sold new to a local Milan owner. In September of 1969, the Dino was sold to Bergamo and returned to Milan in March of 1970. Two years later the car was purchased in a Province of Varese, later in 1972 the car was sold to Como, Italy. On 27 April 1973, the Dino was re-registered in Trapani and would go on to wear that registration number until 2015. In March 1976 the next owner would go on to keep the Dino for the following 37 years. Acquired by Mr. Guikas through RM Sotheby’s in 2015. The original engine was removed from the car due to a dropped valve. A mechanically identical Fiat Dino 2.0-liter Tipo 135B engine was installed in its place. The original engine was retained. Inspected by Classiche, should the next owner wish to complete its certification. User and maintenance manuals. Lot 159. Sold for €477,500.

 

 

    360 MODENA F1 CHALLENGE, VIN ZFFYR51B000123327 (2001). Red with black interior. Estimate €60,000 to €80,000. Delivered new to Italy, where it was immediately thrust into competition use. Used in the Italian Pirelli Challenge. Its racing history shows it raced at a handful of events at circuits across Italy, including Monza, Mugello, Misano, Vallelunga, and Imola. Acquired by the prior owner in 2017, it had a major service the year before and had only been driven an additional 50 km by 2018. This service included overhauling the gearbox and the timing belt was replaced along with the belt tensioner. That year, it was acquired by Mr. Guikas through RM Sotheby’s and it has accrued minimal mileage since. In May 2021, Classiche certification and is accompanied by its Red Book. Lot 132. Sold for €92,000.

 

 

    F430 GT2, S/N 2450 (2006). Blue. Estimate €625,000 to €720,000. Delivered new in 2006 to first owner, JMB Racing, based in Monaco. Between 2006 to 2011, raced 36 times in the GT2 class, and also competed at the 2008 edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it achieved a strong 4th in class, and the 2009 24 Hours of Spa. 2nd in class at Interlagos in November 2007, 2nd at the International Open GT in Barcelona in October 2010, 3rd place in race one at the International GT Open Imola in May 2011. This car received many of the GTC revisions introduced in 2009, such as air conditioning, suspension, engine brackets, traction control, electronic power steering, launch control, removable rear fender, and a revised radiator air intake. Currently fitted with a Step 5 engine and exhaust. Offered with spare engine, exhaust, and additional spare parts. Component crack test in 2018 and Classiche certification. Lot 119. Sold for €578,750.
