Posted 08/13/2009 Got a phone call today that was typical of the type of call we receive all too often. A subscriber to the Ferrari Market Letter had just purchased a Ferrari and he wanted to take advantage of our offer to provide subscribers, for free, information from our database on the car. We were happy to do so, and fortunately there was nothing in our file that indicated any problems. But ir always concerns us when we receive such requests AFTER the car has been purchased. The time to make sure the house is structually sound and not half-eaten by termites is before the closing; the time to make sure the diamonds are real and not paste is before the jeweler is paid; the time to make sure the company is financially sound and not filing for Chapter 11 is before the stock is purchased, And the time to make sure the pre-owned Ferrari is as represented is before it is bought. ferrmktltr@earthlink.net
Posted 08/12/2009 A subscriber to the Ferrari Market Letter saw a car being listed on eBay and contacted us to get the history (if any) that we had on the car, a service we offer for FREE to any subscriber. Our history showed the car had been advertised last year, and earlier this year, in the Ferrari Market Letter with just under 40,000 miles. The offering on eBay listed the mileage as almost 5,000 miles less! An inquiry was made as to why there was such a discrepancy. The answer received from the seller was "i guess call the cia." Really inspires confidence, doesn't it? ferrmktltr@earthlink.net
Posted 08/11/2009 An advertisement submitted to the Ferrari Market Letter for an F430 Spider claimed it was "extremely rare" because "less than 5%" had the "rare 6-speed manual." We checked the Ferrari Market Letter Archives. Approximately 25% of the F430 Spiders advertised were "rare 6-speed manual." This is a common fallacy in many ads submitted--pumping up an already desirable automobile with inflated, and often bogus, claims. Where do these so-called facts come from? If you want accurate information, we might be able to help! ferrmktltr@earthlink.net
Posted 08/10/2009 A subscriber to the Ferrari Market Letter had responded to an advertisement and contacted us to get the history (if any) that we had on the car, a service we offer for FREE to any subscriber. In our database we showed the car had been advertised in the past, in the Ferrari Market Letter, with the statement "fresh service." The subscriber wanted to know what that meant--a full belt service, just plugs and an oil change, or? The only way to answer his question would be to either examine the service records with the car or to contact the previous owner who had advertised the car. It would help if important details were included in the advertisement, rather than the color of the brake calipers or the fancy hi-fi sound system! ferrmktltr@earthlink.net
