FAQ
Welcome to the FerrariMarketLetter.com! There are some questions that can be answered by clicking on the HELP tab. However, here's a short Q&A about some of the features. If you dont see your question below, please dont hesitate to email Gerald at ferrmktltr@earthlink.net; Ill try to answer them individually, but if/as a questions popularity increases, Ill include it here. Ciao for now!
Q: I've logged in without a problem, but I still don't have permission to access the subscriber-paid pages; what do I do? A: Clear your browser's history. Note: You do not have to clear your cookies in order to clear your history. Once you clear your history, this problem should clear right up.
Q: My account is valid, but since you launched the new site, I can't log in. I know I'm using the right username and password, but I'm still unable to gain access. What do I do? A: This has happened several times. The subscriber's Internet browser security settings are the problem. As per our tech support, follow the instructions below. This will allow you to successfully log into our site without compromising your browser's high security standards. "The problem lies with the individual machine and its security settings. Go under Tools - Internet Options. Then choose the privacy tab - there should be a box on this screen that says Advanced - choose that. Choose Override automatic cookie handling and check the box that says always allow session cookies. I tested this on my box and at first I could not log in with the security setting at High. By doing what I said above I was able to log in with the setting still at high."
Q: Since your new site went up, I can't even see it! Everytime time I type in your web address, I get a blank page. I had to go to a different computer just to see if I could find an answer to my problem on your FAQ page! What's going on? A: This seems like a bigger problem than it really is. Click here to download the latest Flash player plug-in. Please note that programs like Ad-Watch keep your browser from automatically downloading the latest plug-ins, so you might want to disable said program before downloading the update.
Q: I'm trying to purchase an online subscription through the site, but when I check out, I'm told my subscription has "zero weight" and that I can't purchase something that doesn't weigh anything. Am I in the Twilight Zone? What does this mean? A: This is a minor glitch in the new system and is being worked out as you read this. Should you happen to experience this problem, clear your browser's history, close it out, then come back and try it again. That should solve the problem.
Q: What are some of the new features on the site and where can I find them? A: Aside from the completely new design, some new features on the site include (but are not limited to): Classified Ads search function; easy Previous Issue navigation; a completely renovated Book & Video Store; the Farrier zonE.
The Classified Ads search function is completely new to the Ferrari Market Letter website and the idea was actually fostered by a subscriber. Just click on the Classified Ads tab and right above the five main classified ads sections, youll see a blank field with a "Classified Search" button to the right. Type in one or more keywords or a serial number, phone number, etc. and click the Classified Search button.
The Previous Issue navigation system is also brand new. Just below the Volume, Number and date of the current issue, is a Previous Issue button. Below that, however, is a drop down menu of every issue the Ferrari Market Letter has online. Pick any issue and click the Go To Issue button and viola, youre there. From there, you can go to the previous issue, the next issue or click Current Issue and youre immediately taken back to newest issue. One of the best things about this new feature is that, if youre viewing a specific section of the classifieds in the current issue - Testarossas, for instance - you can choose any previous issue from the drop down menu (or just click Previous Issue) and youll be taken the to the Testarossa classifieds of that issue! Youll never lose your place!
Our Book & Video Store has had a complete make-over. Each section is stylishly labeled and contains no more than five books per page, so that load time is faster. A majority of our books for sale include a thumbnail picture. Click on that thumbnail and a larger, more detailed image of that book will pop up in a separate window. Once inside any one of the book sections, youll see a "Quick Jump" drop down menu at the top of the page. This menu will allow you to jump from section to section without having to go out to the main menu just to go enter a different section. Just select the section from the drop down menu and click the Quick Jump button.
Q: What other features can I expect to see in the coming weeks/months? A: To reduce load time on the classified ads pages, well be getting rid of the full size pictures that some advertisers include with their ads. In their place, we will introduce thumbnail-size pictures that can be clicked on. Once clicked on, larger, more detailed versions of those images will pop up in a separate window. We will also be introducting this feature into the Cover and Feature Articles sections, as well.
Q: Will I be able to update my own personal information with this new site? A: Yes. Once youve logged in, right below the "Log Out" link, youll see "To update your information click here". Click there and youll be able to change all of your personal information, from your name and address to your username and password - even your email address.
Q: I really like the flashy intro to the site, but is it necessary that I watch it every time I visit? A: No. Once the intro finishes, the web address for our site changes slightly (as demonstrated below). This allows you to bookmark (Ctrl+D with most browsers) our site to your favorites for future access without having to constantly see the intro. If you realize you miss the intro and want to see it just once more, simply type our web address into your address bar manually, and hit enter (or just click here). FML web address with intro. FML web address without intro.
Q: Where can I find your advertising deadlines and publication dates? A: Click here to find our advertising deadlines and publication dates.
Q: When I go to the site, I see the intro and I turn up my speaker volume, but I don't hear anything. Is there supposed to be sound with the intro? A: No, there is no sound with the introduction. We thought about putting some in, but then we were reminded that many people surf the web surreptitiously while at their real jobs, and the sound of revving Ferraris would be a dead giveaway that they were goofing off.
Q: How do I make ferrarimarketletter.com my homepage? A: If youre using Mozilla Firefox as your internet browser, go to Tools and select Options from the drop down menu; under the General category, click the Use Current Page button under the Home Page section; then click OK. If youre using Internet Explorer as your internet browser, go to Tools and select Internet Options from the drop down menu; under the General tab, click the Use Current button under the Home page section; click OK.
Q: I really like the new site (or) I really hate the new site. How can I tell you how I feel? A: Speak up! If it weren't for subscription renewals, we wouldn't even know we had subscribers! Be vocal, tell us how you feel, we want your feedback but can't get it unless you give it. If you like the site and want us to know, email Gerald at ferrmktltr@earthlink.net; be sure to include "New Site" in the subject title. If you hate the site or dislike parts of it or have suggestions you feel will improve the site, please email Gerald at ferrmktltr@earthlink.net; be sure to include "New Site" in the subject title. Remember, we don't know unless you tell us.
For the totally uninitiated, the questions below should clear a few things up.
Q: I'm selling something Ferrari-related. Can you tell your subscribers? A: Subscribers to the Ferrari Market Letter can submit classified ads for free. Online subscribers who want to submit an ad should click here. Print subscribers or non subscribers who would like to submit a classified ad should click here. The latter is also sufficient for display advertising as well.
Q: I have a(n) [insert Ferrari model of your choice here]. Can you tell me what it's worth? A: If you're a subscriber, you can click here to see our Asking Price Index. However, the Asking Price Index is not a value guide - it's an index of asking prices. To find out the value of your car, you should consider consulting a professional appraiser or checking guides like Black Book CPI or N.A.D.A.'s Classic Collectible & Special Interest Car Appraisal Guide & Directory.
Q: When I was a kid, my dad had a Ferrari. I think it was a(n) [insert Ferrari model of your choice here]. Do you know who has it now? A: The more information you know about the car, starting with the serial number, the better. If you only know that it was a Queen Mother and it was blue... maybe... then chances are, we won't be able to help you.
Q: Why is my Ferrari depreciating? A: Because it's a used car. Why, did you buy it as an investment? Uh, nevermind.
Q: I'm looking for a(n) [insert Ferrari model of your choice here], but there are none currently listed in the Ferrari Market Letter. Do you know where I could find one? A: No, but when you do, tell the seller about the Ferrari Market Letter.
Q: You have several [insert Ferrari model of your choice here]s currently advertised for sale, but none of them appeal to me. Do you know of any others that aren't listed in the Market Letter? A: No. See the above question.
